Welcome to Revisualize Archives.
These digital archives feature collections of Black studio photography. The collections show reimaginings of connections between the subjects of the photographs, the creators of the photographs, and the material objects to help us see what traditional methods of archival data might have obscured.
This digital collection is meant to teach us how to look and relook at images, how to ask better questions, and how to discover new things about the archival images of Black life in the nineteenth century.
